Tuesday’s afternoon racing action comes from Brighton and Beverley before the evening meetings at Newbury and Newton Abbot take place, while they also go at Sligo in Ireland.
Brighton is the first meeting to get underway, starting at 13:30 with seven races until 16:35. In the 15:00, which is one of Betfred’s ‘Extra Place’ contests, paying three places, Silastar (9/4) is hoping to build on his most recent outing at Goodwood when he was a good second of 14 in a handicap over 9f.
The Good To Firm going may be a factor as he’s unraced on firmer than good, with the likes of stablemate Copperknob (2/1) in the mix to take advantage if so.
The seven-race card at Beverley begins at 13:45 with the meeting finishing up after the 16:45 and the 14:45 is another of Betfred’s promotional ‘Extra Place’ races, paying four places in this 13-strong contest.
She’s The Danger (9/2) could well live up to her name again and build on a fine recent win at Doncaster despite a 3lb rise today, while Saisons D’Or (9/2) and Millionaire Waltz (6/1) are others of interest.
Onto the evening fare on what is the longest day of the year with racing going on until as late as 20:40 at Newbury.
The first of the evening meetings to start is the one at Newton Abbot at 17:10, where there are seven races, with the last one due off at 20:30, while Newbury’s seven-race card is staged between 17:25 and 20:40.
In the opener at Newbury, which is a designated Betfred ‘Free Bet If Second’ race, Sun Festival (9/2) catches the eye after some recent impressive appearances.
He got off the mark at the 11th attempt in first-time cheekpieces at Wolverhampton in April and has since been a runner-up twice at Chelmsford and Kempton so should go well again this evening.
Finally, over in Ireland today there’s just the one meeting and they go at Sligo, where there are six races, between 17:35 and 20:20.
