Today's Horse Racing Odds: Sunday 17th April

It’s a busy Easter Sunday of racing across the UK and Ireland, with seven meetings taking place, including action from Newbury, Ffos Las, Market Rasen, Plumpton and Southwell.

Ffos Las is the first meeting to get underway at 13:00 and there are seven races at the Welsh venue with the last one due off at 16:25.

Newbury’s eight-race card is next on the agenda when that begins at 13:40 and the meeting ends after the 17:40. In the 16.31, Ahorsewithnoname (6/5) is expected to go well for Nicky Henderson and Ryan Moore, as the Seven Barrows trainer takes his chances on the Flat.

The mare was a superb second at 50/1 to Love Envoi over hurdles in the Dawn Run Mares’ Novices’ Hurdle at the Cheltenham Festival and has previous victories at Sedgefield, Thirsk and Catterick in 2019 under her belt.

Market Rasen’s seven-race card starts at 13:53 with the finale due off at 17:21 and the 15:36 is set to be an intriguing contest where Blueberry Wine (6/4), who has won twice this season at Sedgefield, and Lucky Flight (7/4) stand out from the six-strong field.

Lucinda Russell’s Lucky Flight finished second and third in outings at Kelso last month but is 8lb below his previous win-mark this afternoon which could just edge him to victory.

Southwell’s all-weather card takes place between 13:57 and 18:00 and there are eight races there today, while the action at Plumpton is due to start at 14:15 with the seventh and final race set for 17:45.

In the 16:35 at Plumpton, Chris Gordon’s Aucunrisque (9/4) is back in action after recent victories here over C&D and at Wincanton and Kempton, while he earned more respect on his latest start when finishing fourth in the Grade 1 Top Novices’ Hurdle at Aintree.

He returns to handicapping now and has Harry Cobden on board for the first time as he looks to see off the obvious threats of Midnights Legacy (11/4) and Swinging London (7/2), the latter who recorded a fine sixth in the Fred Winter at Cheltenham last month.

In Ireland today, the meeting at Cork starts at 13:10 and finishes after eight races at 17:15, while Fairyhouse’s seven-race card is between 14:00 and 17:25.
