It’s the final day of Chester’s May Festival on Friday, while there’s also racing action from Ascot, Market Rasen, Nottingham, Ripon and Wolverhampton.
The feature race at Chester is the Chester Cup at 15:15 with the action on the Roodee starting at 13:30 and finishing up with the last of seven races at 16:55.
In the Chester Cup, which is one of Betfred’s ‘Extra Place’ races, paying four places, Solent Gateway (4/1) is a leading contender after winning a 2m handicap here in eye-catching fashion last summer, while last year’s winner Falcon Eight (11/2) is 5lb higher now but is still one to watch.
Market Rasen’s seven-race meeting is the first to get underway on Friday at 13:15 with the action concluding after the 16:40.
In the opener, which is another of Betfred’s ‘Extra Place’ promotional races, paying four places, William Cody (5/2) will be aiming to go one better after producing his best effort to date when second when back down in trip at Sedgefield last month.
