Leeds prepare for “defining moment”

Jesse Marsch

Leeds United manager Jesse Marsch admits Sunday’s home meeting with Brighton could be a “defining moment” as they battle to stay in the Premier League (Match Betting – Leeds 6/4, Draw 5/2, Brighton 13/8).

It’s a bumper Sunday in the English top-flight after Saturday’s focus was on the FA Cup final when Liverpool beat Chelsea to keep their quadruple hopes alive.

There are seven games in the Premier League and the encounter between Leeds and Brighton at Elland Road has plenty riding on it.

Leeds (4/6 to be relegated), who sit 18th, will be hoping Tottenham Hotspur do them a favour in beating Burnley (11/8) in the midday kick off as they attempt to climb out of the relegation zone.

Just goal difference separates Leeds and Burnley but the Lancashire outfit do have a game in hand.

Marsch, who was drafted in to replace Marcelo Bielsa in February, has watched Leeds lose their last three games and has stressed the importance of ending that run in Sunday’s 14:00 outing.

“We have to find a way to turn the momentum. We have two matches and this match can be the defining moment in the season, for sure,” Marsch said.

Premier League leaders Manchester City are also in action at 14:00 and they can all-but seal the title with a victory over West Ham United (Match Betting – West Ham 13/2, Draw 4/1, City 4/11).

Already-relegated Watford welcome Leicester City to Vicarage Road (Match Betting – Watford 10/3, Draw 14/5, Leicester 5/6), Aston Villa play host to Crystal Palace (Match Betting – Aston Villa 21/20, Draw 5/2, Crystal Palace 5/2) and Norwich City travel to Molineux to face Wolves (Match Betting – Wolves 4/9, Draw 7/2, Norwich 6/1).

Meanwhile, Everton, who also can’t rule out relegation just yet, welcome Brentford to Goodison Park at 16:30 (Match Betting – Everton 19/20, Draw 5/2, Brentford 11/4).

The Toffees have shown signs of improvement lately, winning two of their last three fixtures and they have subsequently moved two points clear of the drop zone.

Another victory on Sunday could ensure they are safe heading into the final day if results elsewhere go in their favour.
