Betfred World Snooker Championship Odds: Williams facing Crucible exit

Robertson in danger against Lisowski

Mark Williams (28/1 – World Championship Outright) will need to rediscover his best form if he wants to reach the Betfred World Championship final after falling 7-1 behind to Judd Trump in their semi-final clash.

Williams, a three-time champion at the Crucible, had looked impressive en route to the last-four stage, seeing off Michael White and Jackson Page with the loss of six frames, before edging past Yan Bingtao 13-11 in the quarters.

However, the Welshman was off the boil in the first session of the semi-final and he trails Trump 7-1 heading into Friday, with the match due to resume at 10:00 (Match betting – Williams 9/1, Trump 1/20).

The Welsh Potting Machine faces a huge task to reach his fifth Crucible final from the best-of-33 encounter and history is against Williams for this one, as Trump (Evens – World Championship Outright) has won 18 of their 27 previous meetings.

While the first semi-final only looks to be going one way, the same cannot be said of the second last-four encounter between Ronnie O’Sullivan and John Higgins, who have six world titles between them.

The Scottish star made a strong start and found himself 3-0 ahead, only for his English rival to win four of the next five frames to ensure the match was level at 4-4 after the first session.

O’Sullivan is aiming to equal Stephen Hendry’s seven world titles and the Rocket can be backed at 6/4 to achieve this feat, while the Wizard of Wishaw is 5/1 to lift the trophy for the fifth time.

Their match will resume on Friday at 14:30 and O’Sullivan is 4/9 to progress into the final, while Higgins is priced at 9/5.
