Vikings and Outlaws can make ground on leading pack

Last season’s leading North Group pairing Yorkshire and Nottinghamshire do battle at Headingley on Monday night, with vital ground to be made on the T20 Blast frontrunners (Yorkshire 10/11, Nottinghamshire 10/11 – Match Betting).

Taking encouragement from a comfortable six-wicket home win over Durham last time out, the Vikings will be aiming to leave memories of their preceding three-match winless run far behind them against the Outlaws, who sit sixth in the standings, only below their hosts due to an inferior net run rate.

Both teams have recorded a pair of wins and defeats apiece from their five fixtures up to this point.

Harry Brook’s batting total of 165 runs for the campaign – putting him marginally ahead of teammate Adam Lyth’s 162 – have been vital to Yorkshire’s attack.

The 23-year-old was this weekend made to wait for his Test debut, having been overlooked for a place in the England line-up for the series-opening win over New Zealand (England 1/3, draw 9/2, New Zealand 13/2 – Series Winner).

The Castleford native came within a whisker of sealing Yorkshire’s first T2o win at Old Trafford in eight years on May 27, dismissed LBW on the final delivery of the Roses match with the scores tied, having top-scored in the match with 72.

Alex Hales’ (pictured) bruising knock of 91 off 33 balls powered the Outlaws to their second win of the season against Derbyshire in Friday night action, hitting 26 off one Sam Conners over.

However, that success was tempered on Sunday by a tight single-run defeat to Birmingham Bears, who are chasing down leaders Lancashire from second spot.

Last term, a convincing showing in the regular season saw Notts beat Yorkshire into first place, though both were then beaten by southern opposition at the quarter-final stage (Yorks 10/1, Notts 8/1 – T20 Blast 2022 Outright).
