Van Bronckhorst issues Old Firm rallying cry

Rangers boss Giovanni van Bronckhorst says his side can win this weekend’s Old Firm clash with Celtic, although the Dutchman admits he does have injury worries ahead of Sunday’s 12:00 KO (Celtic 17/20, Draw 11/4, Rangers 10/3 – Match Betting).

The Hoops have a six-point advantage at the top of the Scottish Premiership with just four games remaining, while they should also be fresher going into the match.

On the other hand, Rangers go into Sunday’s battle on the back of a 1-0 defeat to RB Leipzig in the Europa League, played just last Thursday.

A win for Celtic will effectively mean the title is returning to Parkhead, and Van Bronckhorst’s task is not made any easier by the likely absences of striker Kemar Roofe and midfielder Aaron Ramsey.

Former Rangers defender Van Bronckhorst is still assessing the fitness of his squad after Thursday’s defeat in Germany, but he believes his players still have enough about them to grab all three points.

He told Sky Sports: “Our focus is now on Celtic; we will recover and prepare for the game on Sunday. The belief is there; we will go there to get a good result.

“My objective is to have my players well prepared mentally and physically. I know my players will do everything on Sunday to get a good result; this is what they have continued to do through a hectic schedule.”

Celtic are unbeaten in 28 matches in the league, and boss Ange Postecoglou is considering changes to his starting XI, as Tomas Rogic, David Turnbull and Giorgos Giakoumakis all push for recalls.
