Erik Ten Hag says he is already starting his preparations for life in the Manchester United hot seat as he prepares to take over ahead of next season.
The Dutchman was announced as Ralf Rangnick’s successor last month as United look to get back on track following a dismal season.
The Red Devils can finish no higher than sixth in the league table going into the last match of the season, while they have a two-point advantage over West Ham United in seventh.
The season has been dominated by poor form and reports of player unrest, particularly since Rangnick was installed as the interim manager following the sacking of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
Several players look likely to leave Old Trafford, most notably Paul Pogba, Jesse Lingard and Edinson Cavani, while the future of talisman Cristiano Ronaldo has been under intense speculation.
It means a huge summer lies ahead for Ten Hag, who recently guided Ajax to a third Eredivisie title under his stewardship.
Ten Hag has decided to begin his work early, though not in an official capacity.

He is hoping to get his backroom team sorted as soon as possible with Mitchell van der Gaag reportedly set to join as his right-hand man from Ajax.
Former United assistant and Middlesbrough and England boss Steve McClaren is reportedly being lined up for a role too.
Ajax have a post-season trip to Curacao lined up but Ten Hag will not be going, instead opting for “intense” discussions about the immediate future of his new club.
“There’s a lot of work to be done there [at United]. Of course.” Ten Hag said. “There’s a lot of work at every club. A manager’s job is especially focused on the preparations for next season. And there’s a lot of work to be done in that regard.
“Regarding the staff, there are several things that need to be organised. And also regarding the team and over the next several days, or actually as of tomorrow [Monday], we will be focusing on that intensively.”
United’s final match of the season takes place on Sunday as they travel to Crystal Palace (Match Betting – Crystal Palace 21/10, draw 13/5, Manchester United 13/10).
A win seals sixth but anything else opens up the possibility of West Ham, who are away at Brighton on the final day, taking it from them with a win and relegate United to the Europa Conference League (Top Six Finish – Manchester United 1/5, West Ham 10/3).
