Robertson in danger against Lisowski

World number three and pre-tournament favourite Neil Robertson (6/1 – Tournament Outright) is in danger of going out in the second round of the Betfred World Snooker Championship as he trails Jack Lisowski 9-7 after the second session on Sunday.

Robertson, who has had a fantastic season so far winning The Masters, Tour Championship, English Open and Players Championship, was expected to take control of the tie when they resumed at 4-4 on Sunday, but world number 14 Lisowski had other ideas.

The Englishman was in fine form as he racked up back-to-back centuries of 119 and 122 to move 6-4 ahead before Robertson replied with a break of 60 to take the 11th frame.

It was 7-5 to the underdog soon after, though, and then the pair shared the final four frames of the day as Lisowski managed to open up a two-frame lead.

He now needs just four more when the tie resumes on Monday at 19:00 to claim a shock win and knock the Australian out (Robertson 10/11, Lisowski 10/11 – Match odds).

The victor will take on the winner of the John Higgins-Noppon Saengkham clash in which the Scot holds a comfortable 11-5 lead.

The four-time champion needs just two to advance into the last eight when they resume this afternoon at 13:00, after winning seven frames in a row to take charge against his Thai opponent.

Higgins is 8/1 to go on and win a fifth world title next weekend.

Judd Trump, who won the Betfred World Snooker Championship in 2019, is also firmly on course for the quarter-finals as he leads another Scot, Anthony McGill, 10-6.

Trump (4/1 – Tournament Outright) has not been at his best so far at the Crucible, but was able to keep McGill at bay with breaks of 79 and 52 on Sunday and he will resume on Monday evening needing just three more frames to progress.

Stuart Bingham and Kyren Wilson remain locked at 8-8 after their second session, with 2020 finalist Wilson just missing out on a maximum 147 after potting 12 reds and 12 blacks. Their second-round clash gets back under way at 13:00 on Monday.
