La Liga Betting Odds: Crunch clash for Catalans

There is a huge La Liga match taking place at the Anoeta Stadium on Thursday night with Real Sociedad, sixth in the standings, playing host to third-place Barcelona, while there are three others games also taking place.

Back-to-back defeats are threatening to derail Barcelona’s season, with a 3-2 loss to Eintracht Frankfurt seeing the club knocked out of the Europa League quarter-finals before a 1-0 loss to Cadiz ended their slim titles hopes.

The Catalans are only three points ahead of fifth-place Real Betis, while Sociedad are a further two points in arrears, so head coach Xavi Hernandez needs to get his side back to winning ways quickly to ensure they finish in the top four.

One positive for Barcelona is the fact they have one or two games in hand on the teams around them fighting for a Champions League place, so they know they have a top-four finish in their own hands.

However, Thursday’s trip to the Anoeta will be no easy task for Barca and they will need to be at their best to overcome Sociedad, who are on a five-game unbeaten streak and have conceded just once during that period.

Barcelona are 23/20 to come away with all three points, while the draw is priced at 12/5 and the hosts are 12/5 to triumph.

La Liga Betting Odds

Before the clash in the Basque Country at 20:30, there are two top-flight matches getting underway at 18:00, these being Rayo Vallecano’s trip to Espanyol and Levante’s home meeting with Sevilla.

Levante are 19th in the table – leaving them six points from safety – and they are unlikely to get any change out of Sevilla, who are fourth in the table and only one point behind second-place Atletico Madrid.

In the other 18:00 game, Rayo Vallecano, four points clear of the drop zone, will be desperate to come away with all three points from Espanyol and give their survival hopes a boost.

Espanyol have a nine-point buffer to the bottom three and although they will feel confident of playing in La Liga next season with their current point tally, they will also be looking to rubber-stamp their place in the top flight.

The 19:00 contest will see 17th-place Cadiz, one point above the drop zone, play host to top-six chasing Athletic Bilbao.
